A little update..
I closed my eyes to listen to the soft click of the rubberised cloth shutter, and cooed softly to myself as the precisely engineered ratchet glided over its gears advancing the silver halide tape that nestled within my Leica M6.
Well, that's not quite accurate. I would never close my eyes at the moment I pressed the shutter of my camera, I was of course being poetic.Though using any one of my film Leica cameras offers me an enormous amount of pleasures I capture the world around me. Particularly with my street photography that can be seen on my Instagram account, @backwater_beat or my other blog backwaterbeat.blog. (feel free to follow either one, they are updated every day)
During the start of this year I have in fact been concentrating more on my analogue photography in the aim to establish a portfolio images that will enable me to hold an exhibition next year. Concentrating mainly on black and white and the capturing of the human element within the geometrically constructed urban environment we find ourselves existing in.
I do hope to keep you updated, particularly as my wedding season is about to get busier.
Just some stuff..
Aside from the various planning, photographing, discussions and general dreaming of the exhibition, I have also set about photographing some sketches on film to further enhance my creativity. These portraits of a variety of (mostly) willing sitters, I have pursued some very shadowed portraits in the hope of discovering something that will spark an idea to pursue with film. We'll see what evolves..
A debut of sorts as well. Having recently bumped into the extraordinarily talented Kathie Renner of Vincent's Chair, I set about to capture one of her gigs using only my film cameras. Being released from the digital hype and using film cameras that essentially have only a number of controls (Shutter Speed, and Aperture) I felt rather free to be in the moment. I look forward to showing you the results in the near future!
All in all, the above has kept me rather busy and has unfortunately left my blogging in a rather neglectful state. I will rectify this very soon.
In the meantime, have an amazing Easter!
