"Don't stress if your skateboard ploughs through my face, just get as close to me as possible!"
I was keen to get just a couple of shots of the skaters who frequent the space outside of the South Australian Museum on the weekends with my Leica M7 analogue camera. ..without stitches. Fortunately they knew what they were doing!
I find myself armed with my Leica M7 on a regular basis as I patiently wait for the wedding season to start. Winter provides some great opportunities to wonder the city as a 'tourist in my own town' gathering inspiration and making images from my humble backwater city, Adelaide.
For weddings and corporate gigs, my digital cameras allow me to work fast, which is somewhat a necessity due to the nature of the shoot. Though analogue photography allows me to work at a slower pace as I consider more carefully composition, interactions and lens choices. The tactile feel of the camera itself, from loading the film, twisting, flicking and turning the camera's components right through to developing the negatives allows me to immerse myself deeply in the photographic experience.
The following are a few images posted on my Instagram account, @backwater_beat, from the previous couple of weeks. One image posted everyday!
